Alumni Association President Gary Lipp ’86

Hello again my (green-bleeding) brothers and sisters! I want to reiterate how honored I am to serve you and 22,000 other alumni across the globe!

It’s been six months since I wrote my last message, and the state of our country is looking much more promising in so many ways. There are exciting times ahead for our country, our College and life in general. The environmental field as a whole will continue to grow exponentially in the near future (mark my words!). This is great timing for our graduates who will be finding jobs and opportunities easier to obtain. Evidence of this is already manifesting itself in the high number of applications for enrollment at our College, much greater than most of the 63 other SUNY institutions.

Despite this past year’s demands and difficulties, ESF has persevered and even helped contribute to our country’s COVID recovery. If you haven’t heard about the incredible work being done by Dr. Hyatt Green, Dr. Brian Leydet and John Wasiel, look it up — it is highly impressive!

Our new president, Joanie Mahoney, is such a bright light for our future as well. She is an experienced leader, and is enthusiastic and devoted to ESF. Although she is not officially a “Stumpy,” I am certain she “bleeds green!” She is dedicated to making ESF a global leader.

Keep up to date by checking out the ESF website (www.esf.edu) and more specifically, the ESF Alumni page (www.esf.edu/alumni) where you’ll find relevant news, event announcements and alumni profiles. You can also update your alumni record or submit a class note for the next issue of ESF Magazine. If you’re searching for a job, consider using the career services resources available to ESF alumni, particularly the CareerShift system, which allows you to post and search for positions (www.esf.edu/career/alumni/). Follow us on our social media channels and if you have not already done so, please consider becoming a member of our Alumni Association (www.esf.edu/forms/alumni/dues.asp).

As always, thanks needs to be bestowed on Debbie Caviness, the director of alumni relations, and her two amazing associates, Jennifer Cullivan and Nichole Dougherty, for all of the amazing work they do! Keep fighting the good environmental fight, and continue safe healthy practices! My contact email is galipp28@gmail.com.

Very Sincerely,
Gary Lipp ’86
